Meeting the Information Requirements of the Animal Welfare Act: A Workshop

The USDA Animal Welfare Information Center (AWIC) teaches a one and a half day workshop at the National Agricultural Library (NAL) in Beltsville, MD, for individuals who are responsible for providing information to meet the requirements of the Animal Welfare Act (AWA). The workshop is targeted for principal investigators, members of IACUCs, information providers, administrators of animal use programs, and veterinarians.

The Scientists Center for Animal Welfare (SCAW) will present an IACUC Training Workshop on April 20, 2016 in Memphis, TN. SCAW developed this one-day educational workshop for experienced Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) members and administrators, principal investigators, attending veterinarians, regulatory personnel and laboratory animal care staff. The program focuses on topics relevant to IACUC functions and provides opportunities for small discussion groups and sharing of information among participants.

Instructions

All STTR Phase I and Phase II recipients must complete this certification at all times set forth in the funding agreement (see §8(h) of the SBIR Policy Directive). This includes checking all of the boxes and having an authorized officer of the awardee sign and date the certification each time it is required. Recipients are not required to submit this certification directly to NIH but must instead complete the certification and maintain it on file in accordance with the records and retention policy in Section 8.4.2 of the NIH Grants Policy Statement or as listed in the STTR contract solicitation or contract award. A certification is required at the following times:

  • For STTR Phase I Recipients: At the time of receiving final payment or disbursement from the Payment Management System or via contract.
  • For STTR Phase II Recipients: prior to receiving more than 50% of the total award amount and prior to final payment or disbursement from the Payment Management System or via contract.
