Investigator Initiated Research Project Grant Applications
Purpose of the Award
- The purpose of this award is to encourage research on:
o The development and/or pilot testing of new or adapted interventions,
o The adaptation and/or pilot testing of interventions with demonstrated efficacy for use in broader scale effectiveness trials, or
o Innovative services research directions that require preliminary testing or development.
Details
- Direct costs limited to $450,000 over the R34 project period.
- No more than $225,000 in direct costs allowed in any single year.
- Generally awarded for 3 years
- Utilized by relatively few ICs (e.g., NIMH)
Application
- The R34 research plan proposed by the applicant institution/organization must be related to the stated program interests of one or more of the NIH Institutes and Centers (ICs) based on descriptions of their programs. Applicants are encouraged to review IC priorities on their respective websites and to contact their respective Program Officer.
