Institutional Clinician Scientist Program Award
Purpose of the Award
- For support of newly trained clinicians and other types of investigators appointed by an institution for development of independent research skills and experience within the framework of an interdisciplinary research and development program.
- The applicant institution must have a strong and high-quality research program and must have the requisite faculty and facilities on site to conduct the proposed institutional program.
Details
- The proposed institutional K12 program must outline a plan to recruit and develop well- qualified junior investigators for successful careers as biomedical or clinical researchers.
- The program must provide a justification for the content and duration of any proposed didactic, educational, and research-related activities for the participating clinician scientists (i.e., scholars).
Applications
- The PD/PI must have a have a strong scientific background, expertise, and experience to provide strong leadership, direction, management, and administration of the proposed program.
- The program faculty (mentors) must have expertise and experience, as well as track records of past mentoring and training.

There must be evidence of a strong institutional commitment to the proposed program, including sufficient assurance that the required effort of the PD/PI, mentors, and scholars will be devoted directly to the research career development and related activities.

Progress Report attachment for renewal applications page limits:
- Five pages for program overview
- One page for each appointee to the grant
