When Are Annual Reports Due to the NIH Office of Laboratory Animal Welfare This Year?

Domestic Annual Reports for the reporting period of October 1, 2025, through September 30, 2026, are due to the NIH Office of Laboratory Animal Welfare (OLAW) by December 1, 2026, for domestic institutions with an approved Domestic Animal Welfare Assurance. 

The Domestic Annual Report to OLAW webpage includes the domestic Annual Report form and an optional Sample Addendum to report Changes in Veterinarians. The following information must be reported:

  • Any change in the institution’s AAALAC International accreditation status
  • Any change in the institution’s animal care program and use as described in PHS Policy section IV.A.1.a-i
  • Any change in the Institutional Official or the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) membership
  • Dates that the IACUC conducted its semiannual evaluations of the program and facilities
  • Any minority view by an IACUC member

Domestic institutions must download the updated Annual Report form and email the completed, signed Annual Report form as a single PDF file attachment to [email protected] by December 1, 2026. 

As a reminder, any change in Institutional Official, IACUC Chair, or Assurance Key Contacts must be reported immediately to OLAW by emailing [email protected]

Foreign Animal Welfare Assurances are not due at this time. Details regarding Foreign Animal Welfare Assurances will be announced separately.
