NIH Launches New Central Resource to Support Replication and Reproducibility

NIH has launched a new resource focused on strengthening replication and reproducibility across NIH-funded research. The Strengthening Replication and Reproducibility of NIH-funded Research webpage serves as a centralized hub highlighting NIH’s ongoing efforts to promote rigorous, transparent, and reliable science. Replication and reproducibility are core to scientific progress, helping ensure that research findings can be independently confirmed and built upon. This new NIH-wide resource supports the director’s priority to embed high-integrity science throughout the research lifecycle. Moreover, it aligns with the NIH’s new Gold Standard Science framework that emphasizes reproducibility, transparency, rigorous peer review, and the communication of uncertainty as core principles.

The new resource:

  • Outlines NIH’s current activities and future directions to support replication studies,
  • Incentivizes reproducible research practices, and
  • Embeds these principles more fully across the biomedical research ecosystem.

The site brings together information on relevant NIH policies, programs, and community engagement opportunities, and will be updated as new efforts are developed.

Find helpful resources on how to address rigor and transparency in NIH grant applications and progress reports, including authentication plan examples, guidance on sample size calculation, training modules, and more on the Enhancing Reproducibility through Rigor and Transparency page.
