Description:
This annual 3Rs symposium will focus on reduction, refinement, and replacement methods to improve laboratory animal welfare while maintaining or improving scientific results. This event is free and will be submitted for RACE Credits.
- November 2, 4, 10 2026 | 10:00am - 1:30pm ET | Virtual
- November 12, 2026 | 11:00am - 8:00pm ET | Virtual & In-person at the University of Washington
Registration (please read all directions in order to register successfully):
- Virtual attendance (all days): Register via Zoom. Your Zoom registration is valid for all (4) days of the symposium. (1) link is provided and this link is valid for all (4) days. Please note, registration via Zoom is specifically for virtual attendance. If you wish to attend in person on Day 4, please register via Eventbrite.
- In-person attendance (Day 4 ONLY): Register via Eventbrite. In person attendance is limited to 80 attendees due to space constraints. Refreshments and lunch will be provided. Additional details, including the venue address, will be sent on October 1 to the email address used to register.

Audience:
Sessions are designed for investigators, laboratory animal veterinarians, care staff, and IACUC members and staff. Residents, students, and postdocs are also welcome!

The annual 3Rs Symposium is a collaborative event organized by the Center for Alternatives to Animal Testing Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health; the Department of Molecular and Comparative Pathobiology, Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine; the USDA’s Animal Welfare Information Center (AWIC) at the National Agricultural Library; the NIH Office of Laboratory Animal Welfare; and the University of Washington. The goal of the symposium to bring together experts and practitioners to share information and discuss new and practical approaches to the 3Rs.
