Notice Number: NOT-HL-12-001
Key Dates
Release Date: January 10, 2012
Issued by
National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI)
Purpose
On July 22, 2011, NHLBI issued a Notice (NOT-HL-11-154) in the NIH Guide discontinuing its participation in the Parent R21 Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA). In brief, NHLBI will not accept any “new” R21s beginning with the 10/16/11 due date and beyond. However, the Institute will continue to accept resubmission (A1) R21 applications for the 3/16/12 due date for non-AIDS and for the 5/7/12 due date for AIDS R21s.
Since PA-10-069 has expired, NHLBI will participate in PA-11-261 for cycle I in 2012 in order to allow assignment of resubmission (A1) R21s to NHLBI for primary funding consideration. NHLBI will not accept any “new” (A0) R21 applications in response to the Parent R21 FOA (PA-11-261). Once cycle I (March 16/May 7) 2012 submissions are done, NHLBI will not accept any investigator-initiated R21 applications in response to PA-11-261.
All other aspects of PA-11-261 remain unchanged.
