Purpose

The National Institute of General Medical Sciences (NIGMS) will host an informational webinar to provide advice and respond to questions from prospective applicants who plan to submit applications to PAR-24-137 "Undergraduate Research Training Initiative for Student Enhancement (U-RISE) (T34)" and PAR-24-138 “Maximizing Access to Research Careers (MARC) (T34)” on Friday, May 10, 2024, at 12:30 pm, Eastern Daylight Time.

For cross-disciplinary training programs, NIGMS recognizes separate organizational eligibility tracks:

  • Research-intensive, that is, those with an average of NIH research project grant (RPG) funding greater than or equal to $7.5 million total costs per year over the past 3 fiscal years, and
  • Research-active, that is, those with an average of RPG funding less than $7.5 million total costs per year over the past 3 fiscal years (RPG data are available through NIH RePORTER).

The U-RISE program is limited to research-active institutions, and the MARC program is limited to research-intensive institutions.
