Purpose

This notice changes the current RFA-RM-09-004 and provides clarification to the guide notice  http://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/notice-files/NOT-RR-09-014.html restating the NRSA policy that permits one year training experiences for health-professional students pursuing a MD, DDS/DMD, DO, DNP, or PharmD who wish to postpone not augment their professional studies. NRSA support may not be used for clinical training that is part of residency training leading to clinical certification in a medical or dental specialty or subspecialty.

This notice changes the current guide notice NOT-RR-09-014 and the statement will now read:

Clinical Health-professional students

This Notice further amends the FOA to add a statement regarding the NRSA policy that permits one year training experiences for health-professional students pursuing a MD, DDS/DMD, DO, DNP, or PharmD. The new statement will read:

“Students who are officially enrolled in a health-professional doctoral program and wish to postpone their professional studies to gain research experience, may be appointed for one year to the CTSA TL1 research training grant. TL1 research experience appointments will be granted provided that NRSA eligibility requirements are met.”
