Purpose

This Notice reminds applicants of instructions in the Application Guide and FOAs and policies in the NIH Grants Policy Statement that impact PAR-19-333 " SBIR/STTR Commercialization Readiness Pilot (CRP) Program Technical Assistance and Late Stage Development (SB1, R44) Clinical Trial Not Allowed", PAR-19-334 " SBIR/STTR Commercialization Readiness Pilot (CRP) Program Technical Assistance (SB1, R44) Clinical Trial Not Allowed", and PAR-19-335 "SBIR/STTR Commercialization Readiness Pilot (CRP) Program Technical Assistance and Late Stage Development (SB1, R44) Clinical Trial Required". No changes are being made to the Funding Opportunity Announcements (FOAs).

CRP applications for a Phase II/IIB award that is active when the CRP is submitted and will be active on the requested Project Start Date for the CRP should be submitted as a revision ("Type 3") application.

  • All Revision applications must include a separate Introduction attachment in accordance with the instructions on NIH's Competing Revisions. Revision resubmission applications must also address the instructions on the content of the introduction on the NIH's Resubmission Applications page on the single Introduction attachment.
  • The first submission of a Revision application must select Revision as the Type of Application on the SF424 (R&R) cover form.
  • Per NOT-OD-18-197, one resubmission is allowed. A resubmission (i.e., that responds to the Summary Statement of the prior "A0" application) revision application must select Resubmission as the Type of Application on the SF424 (R&R) cover form.
  • The Proposed Project Ending Date of the CRP application may be no later than the Project End Date of the parent R44 Phase II/IIB grant. The Budget may only request support only for activities to be conducted by the Proposed Project Ending Date. If a no-cost extension is needed on the parent grant, it must be in place before the revision application is submitted.

CRP applications for a Phase II/IIB award that has ended and is closed out or will be by the requested Project Start Date for the CRP should be submitted as a renewal ("Type 2") application.

  • The first submission of a Renewal application must select Renewal as the Type of Application on the SF424 (R&R) cover form.
Per NOT-OD-18-197, one resubmission is allowed. A resubmission (i.e., that responds to the Summary Statement of the prior "A0" application) renewal application must select Resubmission as the Type of Application on the SF424 (R&R) cover form. A renewal resubmission application must address the instructions on the content of the introduction on the NIH's Resubmission Applications page.
