During the 2-day seminar, you'll have the opportunity to meet and discuss grant issues with approximately 60 HHS & NIH policy, grants management, review and program officials, as well as NIH senior leadership all in a central location! Another valuable opportunity to get your questions answered is during the 15 minute 1:1 Meet the Expert chats. In Baltimore, the NIH will provide an additional number of experts to help answer your specific questions about the grants process and policies.
These officials provide a comprehensive program that provides valuable information about the NIH grants process, including such topics as peer review, grant writing for success, pre-award and post-award issues for administrators and investigators, application instruction changes, compliance, how to interact electronically with NIH, human subjects and animal research protections, as well as how to map your career with NIH. Special interest sessions are also provided on topics such as research integrity, intellectual property and data sharing, foreign collaborations, R& D Contracts, and ClinicalTrials.gov. Meet and hear from the NIH Deputy Director of Extramural Research, Dr. Michael Lauer, on the latest funding trends, NIH program initiatives, and so much more. For a better idea of all the options, take a look at the agenda to see all the sessions offered this year!
Seats are still available for the optional pre-seminar workshops, so take advantage of these opportunities to have more in-depth discussions about various topics of interest:
The NIH Regional Seminars are intended for those new to the grants process, including sponsored project officers and departmental administrators, new and early stage investigators, faculty, graduate students, etc. The event provides an unparalleled opportunity for participants to gain a better perspective of NIH policies and programs, participate in session discussions, gather helpful NIH contacts, and to return to their offices and/or labs with additional guidance, resources, and tools to assist in obtaining and managing NIH awards.
If the Baltimore NIH Regional Seminar location or dates don't work into your schedule, consider the Fall seminar in 2016:
