Notice Number: NOT-OD-07-093
Key Dates
Release Date: September 17, 2007
Issued by
National Institutes of Health (NIH), (http://www.nih.gov)
National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (NIOSH/CDC) http://www.cdc.gov/niosh/oep)
Changes in standing Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) application submission deadlines took effect this year (see NOT-OD-07-001 and NOT-OD-07-053). The submission deadline changes have left more than 400 multi-year FOAs with an expiration date earlier than their last submission deadline. Standard practice has been to set the Expiration Date of an FOA to the day after the last possible submission deadline for that FOA.
NIH/NIOSH will adjust the Expiration Date for each of the affected FOAs, to address this discrepancy in dates and avoid confusion. This change of date will occur between September 18 and November 2, 2007. No action need be taken by applicants. There will be no change to submission deadlines or application packages as a result of these adjustments.
Applicants must continue to use the Application Submission/Receipt Date(s) and AIDS Application Submission/Receipt Date(s) listed in the Key Dates section of the FOA to determine submission deadlines. The Expiration Date IS NOT the submission deadline for an FOA. A change in Expiration Date does not signify more time for application submission.
Sample Change:
FOA: PA-06-181 NIH Exploratory/Developmental Research Grant Program (Parent R21)
Last submission deadline (per new schedule): May 7, 2009
Current Expiration Date: May 2, 2009
Adjusted Expiration Date: May 8, 2009
The adjustments will trigger Grants.gov automated emails to be sent to all who subscribed to receive FOA updates. You could receive over 400 emails during this process, if you subscribe to receive updates to ALL FOAs. We are unable to suppress these Grants.gov emails. Please disregard these messages throughout the adjustment period.
The Expiration Dates for adjusted and newly posted FOAs that use standard submission deadlines will be the day after the last AIDS submission deadline. Consequently, Expiration Dates will be January 8, May 8, or September 8. Although the AIDS deadlines do not apply to all FOAs, the new practice will provide consistency across NIH FOAs.
