Extension of Expiration Date for Mentored Clinical Scientist Development Award (K08) and Independent Scientist Award (K02) Funding Opportunity Announcements.

The Office of Extramural Research gives notice of the extension of the expiration dates for the following Funding Opportunity Announcements (FOA):

PA-00-003 Mentored Clinical Scientist Development Award (K08) published 10/8/99, (http://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/pa-files/PA-00-003.html)

PA-00-020 Independent Scientist Award (K02) published 12/2/99, (http://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/pa-files/PA-00-020.html)

These FOAs will remain active through the June 1, 2006 application submission date for new applications, and for the July 1, 2006 application submission date for revised applications. These submission dates also apply to competing continuation K02 applications, when applicable. Please note that not all Institutes/Centers provide competing continuation support for the K02 program; therefore individuals planning to submit a competing continuation K02 application must contact the specific Institute prior to submission. Applicants should use the current PHS 398 application forms and instructions, which are available at: http://grants.nih.gov/grants/forms.htm.

Each NIH Institute and Center (IC) has a unique scientific purview and different program goals and initiatives that evolve over time. Interested applicants are encouraged to contact the program staff person listed in the relevant announcement prior to submission (see Inquiries below). NIH intends to re-issue these FOAs in time for the October 1/November 1 2006 application submission dates.
