The purpose of this notice is to extend the expiration dates and change the cost limitations and application receipt dates for the following Funding Opportunity Announcements (FOA):

PAR-02-121 - Silvio O. Conte Centers for Neuroscience Research

PAR-02-122 - Silvio O. Conte Centers for the Neuroscience of Mental Disorders

PAR-02-123 - Silvio O. Conte Centers to Develop Collaborative Neuroscience Research

These FOAs will remain active for the new application receipt date of October 26, 2006, after which updated funding opportunity announcements will be issued.  Applicants should use the current PHS 398 application forms and instructions, which are available at: http://grants.nih.gov/grants/forms.htm.

All applications for Silvio O. Conte Centers for Neuroscience Research (PAR-02-121) and Silvio O. Conte Centers for the Neuroscience of Mental Disorders (PAR-02-122) submitted for the October 26, 2006 receipt date are limited to $2 million total costs in any one year; this includes facilities and administrative (F&A) costs for consortium activity at collaborating institutions.

All applications for Silvio O. Conte Centers to Develop Collaborative Neuroscience Research (PAR-02-123) submitted for the October 26, 2006 receipt date are limited to $1 million total costs in any one year; this includes facilities and administrative (F&A) costs for consortium activity at collaborating institutions.

Applicants for Silvio O. Conte Centers are strongly encouraged to contact the relevant NIMH program official listed below early in the planning process, to discuss their plans and assess relevance to program priorities.
