Purpose

This Notice is being issued to inform the research community that NHLBI participates in the NIH-wide Program Announcement (PA-18-591) and will allow the submission of requests for administrative supplements unique to HIV-related heart, lung, blood, and sleep research. The Notice (NOT-HL-17-487) and any other prior notices related to NHLBI administrative supplements for HIV/AIDS-related projects are no longer in effect.

Applicants should keep in mind that administrative supplements are considered under very limited circumstances and only if there are sufficient funds. While there is no limit to the amount of funding an individual applicant can request, the budget must be justified and within the context of sound scientific rationale. Requests will also be evaluated according to the scientific priorities established by the NIH Office of AIDS Research (NOT-OD-15-137). Rarely will funds be awarded that are larger than the parent grant. Applicants are strongly encouraged to discuss potential requests with your NHLBI Program Officer or the contact listed below prior to submission. Additionally, requests must adhere to current NHLBI requirements for receipt of additional funding as outlined in Administrative Supplements to Grants and Cooperative Agreements.
