NIDCD GUIDELINES FOR RESEARCH CONFERENCE GRANTS (R13)
RELEASE DATE: October 16, 2002
NOTICE: NOT-DC-03-001
National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders (NIDCD)
This Notice supersedes all previous NIDCD R13 Notices. NIDCD supports
scientific meetings, conferences and workshops in the areas of hearing,
balance, smell, taste, voice, speech and language. Conference grant
applications typically contain a plan for dissemination of the results
and/or recommendations from the conference; this plan is evaluated
during review of the conference grant application. NIDCD will accept
applications without a dissemination plan as long as the applicant
adequately justifies not disseminating the results of the conference.
The strength of the justification will be considered during review of
the application.
Regarding budget, NIDCD will provide funds up to $30,000 (total costs)
for R13 applications. The Institute usually supplies less than the
$30,000 award ceiling and frequently supplies only partial support for a
conference. NIDCD is willing to accept applications requesting budgets
greater than $30,000, because other NIH Institutes/Centers may
contribute funds to support the application, beyond the NIDCD cap.
