Purpose

Background

The National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases (NIAMS) is updating its Strategic Plan for Fiscal Years 2025-2029 to help guide the research it supports over the next 5 years. The institute issued two previous Requests for Information (NOT-AR-22-023 and NOT-AR-23-022) to solicit comments on cross-cutting thematic opportunities where NIAMS can be best positioned to make a difference in people’s lives and on bold aspirations that the research community is poised to accomplish in the next half-decade. The institute also gathered additional input through a three-day virtual idea-generation meeting with the community. Based on this feedback, along with input from the NIAMS Advisory Council, the Institute has drafted the NIAMS FYs 2025-2029 Strategic Plan. We are now seeking input on this draft.

Information Requested

Through this RFI, NIAMS invites feedback from researchers in academia and industry, health care professionals, patient advocates and health advocacy organizations, scientific or professional organizations, Federal agencies, and other interested members of the public on the draft NIAMS FYs 2025-2029 Strategic Plan. Organizations are strongly encouraged to submit a single response that reflects the views of their organization and entire membership.

Please provide your comments and feedback. The final draft of the Strategic Plan will be presented at the September 2024 meeting of the NIAMS Advisory Council and posted on the NIAMS website when it is approved.
