AHRQ NOTICE OF GRANT AWARD: ELECTRONIC NOTIFICATION OF AWARD Release Date: June 14, 2002 NOTICE: NOT-HS-02-011 Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) (http://www.ahrq.gov) In the context of P.L. 106-107, the Federal Financial Assistance Management Improvement Act and the move throughout the Government to transact business electronically, to the extent possible, the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) has begun the transition from paper to electronic exchange of information. The Notice of Grant Award (NGA) has been identified as one such paper document that can be easily transmitted using electronic mail (E- mail). As the first step in the transition from paper to electronic exchange of information, AHRQ began issuing the Notice of Grant Award in a letter format in 2001. As of July 1, 2002, AHRQ will begin sending the NGA electronically to those institutions who have already established a generic E-mail address for this purpose with the National Institutes of Health (NIH). There is no need to establish a new generic address; AHRQ's NGAs will utilize the address previously provided to NIH. We recognize that not all grant recipients will have the capability to receive electronic NGAs. Therefore, we will maintain a system whereby receiving NGAs electronically will be elective. AHRQ recommends that any grant recipients wishing to receive electronic NGAs, who are not already receiving such from NIH, establish a generic and stable E- mail address specifically for this purpose. The electronic NGA will be sent to this central E-mail address and the institution will be responsible for distributing the NGA, along with the special terms and conditions, to the principal investigator and other appropriate officials within the recipient institution. To establish a new electronic address for grantees that have not previously done so, refer to the NIH Guide announcement of September 16, 1998, Electronic Notification of Award, https://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/notice-files/not98-129.html. Should you have any questions concerning this notice, please contact the grants management official identified on your NGA.
