Purpose

Effective October 1, 2017, grantee institutions of the "Bridges to the Doctorate (R25)" and “Bridges to the Baccalaureate (R25)” programs must use eRA Commons xTrain module to prepare and submit the PHS 2271 Statement of Appointment form.

NOT-GM-14-117 and NOT-GM-14-118 are rescinded.

The institution must submit a completed Statement of Appointment (PHS Form 2271) for each participant appointed or reappointed to the training grant for 8 weeks or more. Grantees must submit the PHS 2271 data electronically using the xTrain system. More information on xTrain is available at xTrain (eRA Commons). An appointment or reappointment may begin any time during the budget period, but not before the budget period start date of the grant year.
