Purpose
The purpose of this Notice is to provide revised reporting requirements for appointing participants in the Bridges to the Baccalaureate (R25) Program as announced in PAR-17-210.

Other Reporting Requirements
The institution must set up an eRA Commons account for each participating Bridges student who will receive a salary. PDs/PIs should work with their organizational officials to ensure that student accounts are created. Once a student has an eRA Commons ID, the PDs/PIs are required to report students with one month or more training in the progress report (RPPR).
An appointment or reappointment may begin any time during the budget period, but not before the budget period start date of the grant year. Appointment of new participants is not allowed during no-cost extensions.
DO NOT use xTrain to appoint Bridges student participants.

Other Reporting Requirements
The institution must submit a completed Statement of Appointment (PHS Form 2271) for each participant appointed for eight weeks or more or the equivalent. Grantees must submit the PHS 2271 data electronically using the xTrain system. More information on xTrain is available at xTrain (eRA Commons) . An appointment or reappointment may begin any time during the budget period, but not before the budget period start date of the grant year.
Appointment of new participants is not allowed during no-cost extensions.
