Purpose

This Notice NOT-FD-22-016 supersedes NOT-FD-22-006

The purpose of this notice is to inform potential applicants to the Veterinary Laboratory Investigation and Response Network (Vet-LIRN), about a special interest in applications focusing on COVID-19 animal diagnostics.

Research Objectives

Examples of approaches that are encouraged include, but are not limited to those listed below:

  • Building testing and sequencing capacity
  • New detection methods, such as rapid detection techniques
  • SARS-CoV-2 variant detection through sequencing

Important note: examples of approaches that are not eligible for applications under this notice include:

  • Basic research on COVID-19 disease processes
  • Epidemiological or transmission studies of SARS-CoV-2
  • Proposals not related to diagnostics

This Notice is to update the Application Due Date for NOSI for PAR-18-604 titled " FDA Notice of Special Interest (NOSI) to update NOT-FD-22-006 with new dates for COVID-19 Capacity Building Grants for PAR -18-604 " Vet-LIRN Network Capacity-Building Projects (U18)

New updated Application Due Date(s) are:

April 14, 2023 by 11:59PM Eastern Time.

THERE WILL BE NO ADDITIONAL APPLICATION DUE DATES for July 11, 2022, January 16, 2023, and July 10, 2023.

Any applications that have already been received for the July 11, 2022, deadline will be reviewed for the next cycle in 2023.

Applicants are encouraged to apply early to allow adequate time to make any corrections to errors found in the applications during the submission process by the due date.

Applicants should be aware that on-time submission means that an application is submitted error free (of both Grants.gov and eRA Commons errors) by 11:59 PM Eastern Time on the application due date.

Late applications will not be acceptable for this FOA.

Submit applications for this initiative using the following funding opportunity announcement (FOA):

  • PAR-18-604: Vet-LIRN Network Capacity-Building Projects

All instructions in the SF424 (R&R) Application Guide and the funding opportunity announcement used for submission must be followed, with the following additions:

  • Applications must include ‘COVID-19’ in Field 11. Descriptive Title of Applicant’s Project on the SF 424 (R&R) Cover Form

Applications nonresponsive to the terms of this NOSI will be withdrawn from consideration for this initiative.
