Purpose

This Notice announces that in Fiscal Year 2017, the NIDDK will increase its salary contribution up to a maximum of $100,000 for K08 and K23 recipients whose awards are based on a 75% minimum effort requirement. Additionally, the NIDDK will also increase its contribution to a maximum of $100,000 for urologic surgeons supported by a K08 or K23 who have a 50% minimum effort requirement. As a reminder, the formula for calculating the NIDDK salary contribution (Y) is Institutional Base Salary x % effort = Y (not to exceed $100,000). See the related announcements above for more information.

All K08s and K23s awarded in Fiscal Year 2017, both competing and non-competing, will be calculated using these new figures and all future years will be adjusted accordingly. In order to assure accurate awards, applications need to provide the NIDDK with the awardees' current base salary and level of approved effort. For non-competing application Research Performance Progress Reports (RPPRs), this information can be provided in Section H.1, Budget Form. For non-competing application RPPRs submitted prior to the date of this Notice, awardees may submit a revised budget via an e-mail from an Authorized Organizational Representative (AOR)/Signing Official (SO) sent to the Grants Management Specialist identified in the Notice of Award or in eRA Commons.

Applicants and awardees are encouraged to consult each Funding Opportunity Announcement and contact appropriate NIDDK staff to determine the salary and research cost contributions for their K08 and K23 applications or awards:
