Alignment with Program Goals and Agency Priorities

8.8 Alignment with Program Goals and Agency Priorities

As stewards of taxpayer funds, NIH is committed to delivering results that matter to the public, per a Unified Strategy that aligns our priorities and funding approaches. See, e.g., Advancing NIH’s Mission Through a Unified Strategy and its addenda. Therefore, NIH may terminate awards, to the extent authorized by law, if an award no longer effectuates the program goals or agency priorities. These termination actions are not terminations for noncompliance with terms and conditions of award, and they are not appealable under 2 CFR 200.342 or 42 CFR 50, subpart D.

When a recipient accepts an NIH award, they agree that continued funding for the award is contingent upon the availability of appropriated funds, recipient satisfactory performance, compliance with the Terms and Conditions of the award, and ongoing alignment with program goals or agency priorities.
