RADIATION DOSIMETRY FOR EPIDEMIOLOGIC STUDIES Release Date: March 30, 1999 RFP AVAILABLE: N01-CP-91024-21 P.T. National Cancer Institute The National Institutes of Health (NIH), National Cancer Institute (NCI), Division of Cancer Epidemiology and Genetics Program (DCEG), Radiation Epidemiology Branch (REB) is recompeting a requirement to continue dosimetry support for epidemiologic studies of populations exposed to ionizing radiation, conducted by the REB. The current contract (Number N01-CP-40535) with the University of Texas, M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, is scheduled to expire September 24, 1999. This project is essential to REB's ability to quantify radiation risks and provide information on dose-response relationships. The NCI requires a Contractor to evaluate the radiotherapy records collected by the REB and determine whether the data are adequate to calculate organ doses and provide organ doses for individual study subjects to the REB for analysis. The Contractor shall provide the support necessary to make measurements on anthropomorphic phantoms, water phantoms, and/or use mathematical phantoms or computerized treatment planning programs in order to reconstruct radiation doses to specific organs following medical exposures. The Contractor shall: (1) determine the manner in which physical dosimetry can be best applied to the epidemiologic studies of interest, (2) coordinate dosimetry data collected or prepared by other medical physicists who are participating in our studies, (3) compare various dosimetry methods to validate consistency and accuracy of estimated doses, and (4) provide dosimetry data to REB to conduct methodologic studies to evaluate the potential biases and uncertainties in the dose estimates. It is anticipated that the resultant contract will be a cost-reimbursement, completion type contract for a five-year period of performance. All responsible sources capable of providing this support and meeting these criteria are encouraged to submit an offer and will be considered by the NCI. It is the offeror's responsibility to monitor the above Internet site for the release of this solicitation and amendments, if any. INQUIRIES This is an electronic RFP, which will be available on the internet at the following URL: http://www.peacetech.com/Rcab/rfps_published.asp. Potential offerors will be responsible for downloading their own copy of the solicitation and amendments. Responses will be due May 5, 1999 (or 45 days from actual release date of RFP).
