COLLABORATIVE NETWORK FOR CLINICAL RESEARCH ON IMMUNE TOLERANCE Release Date: January 22, 1999 RFP AVAILABLE: NIH-NIAID-DAIT-99-30 P.T. National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases The Division of Allergy, Immunology and Transplantation of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), NIH, has a requirement for a Contractor having the capabilities and facilities to establish, coordinate and manage a Collaborative Network for Clinical Research on Immune Tolerance. The goals of this Collaborative Network are to: (1) design a long-term research agenda to accelerate the application of tolerogenic approaches for the treatment of multiple immune system diseases, including autoimmune diseases, asthma and allergic diseases, and graft rejection on solid organ, cell and tissue transplantation. Specifically, the Contractor shall design and conduct clinical trials at all phases to evaluate the safety, toxicity and efficacy of promising tolerance induction strategies in these disease areas, and design and conduct studies of the underlying mechanisms involved in the induction, maintenance and loss of tolerance as an integral part of Network-sponsored clinical trials, as well as clinical trials supported by other Federal and private organizations and companies.
