SPECIAL EMPHASIS RESEARCH CAREER AWARD IN PATHOLOGY AND COMPARATIVE MEDICINE Release Date: November 27, 1998 P.T. National Center for Research Resources The National Center for Research Resources (NCRR) has revised and expanded its Mentored Research Scientist Development Award (K01; Special Emphasis Research Career Award [SERCA] in Pathology and Comparative Medicine) program guidelines. These changes include expanding the scope of the SERCA to emphasize the importance of genetically-modified animals in biomedical research, increasing the annual salary to a maximum of $75,000, and increasing the research support to $20,000 per year. These revisions are in effect immediately for all new and continuing K01/SERCA awards. The new SERCA guidelines are posted under Comparative Medicine on the NCRR home page at: http://www.ncrr.nih.gov/compmed/serca.asp or may be requested from the Comparative Medicine area, NCRR, at 301/435-0744.
