SPECIAL EMPHASIS RESEARCH CAREER AWARD IN PATHOLOGY AND COMPARATIVE MEDICINE

The National Center for Research Resources (NCRR) has revised and expanded its
Mentored Research Scientist Development Award (K01; Special Emphasis Research
Career Award [SERCA] in Pathology and Comparative Medicine) program guidelines. 
These changes include expanding the scope of the SERCA to emphasize the
importance of genetically-modified animals in biomedical research, increasing the
annual salary to a maximum of $75,000, and increasing the research support to
$20,000 per year.  These revisions are in effect immediately for all new and
continuing K01/SERCA awards.
