CHANGE IN NIEHS POLICY REGARDING SUPPORT OF SCIENTIFIC MEETINGS

The purpose of this notice is to inform the extramural community of changes in
National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) policy regarding
support of scientific meetings.  Effective immediately are the following
policy changes:

1.  NIEHS will accept R13 applications only on the February 1, June 1, and
October 1 receipt dates.  Applications must be submitted on a receipt date
that is at least 6 months prior to the scheduled meeting date.

2.  NIEHS will no longer accept investigator-initiated U13 applications.

3.  NIEHS will accept applications under the following budget guidelines:  The
maximum amount of support that may be requested is $25,000; an average award
is $7,500.  NIEHS actively participates in cofunding with other NIH institutes
for conferences related to environmental health sciences.

4.  NIEHS may, according to programmatic need, solicit U13 cooperative
agreements through specific Requests for Applications.
