NEW NCRR POLICY ON RESOURCE CENTERS APPLICATIONS

Effective for applications submitted for the October 1, 1998 receipt date and
thereafter, the National Center for Research Resources (NCRR) announces the
following change in NCRR policy regarding the funding of center (G12, M01, P41,
and P51) grant applications.  For all unsolicited competing continuation (Type
2) center grant applications, the requested increase for the first year recurring
(excluding equipment and alterations and renovations) direct costs cannot exceed
20% of the recurring direct costs awarded in the last non-competing year.

Where this policy would significantly interfere with the program scope of the
proposed research or infrastructure support, a waiver of the 20% ceiling must be
justified and approved in writing by the appropriate Area Director, NCRR, before
the competing continuation application will be accepted.
