ASKNIH CHANGES ITS NAME AND EMAIL ADDRESS Release Date: May 8, 1998 National Institutes of Health ASKNIH has changed its name to GrantsInfo and its email address to GrantsInfo@nih.gov in an effort to improve services to the scientific research community. Services previously provided by ASKNIH will continue. Messages sent to ASKNIH@od.nih.gov will be forwarded to the new GrantsInfo email address until November 1, 1998. The "From" address line in email replies from GrantsInfo is the correct new address, which is also provided under INQUIRIES in this notice. Please update email address books, publications, and other relevant materials. DESCRIPTION GrantsInfo provides general information about the NIH extramural research and research training programs. Application kits and other forms can be obtained from GrantsInfo. Inquiries and requests for materials may be submitted by telephone or email. The GrantsInfo staff is trained to handle inquiries and to ensure that GrantsInfo can provide the most up-to-date information possible. Ways that GrantsInfo can help: o GrantsInfo answers general questions about the NIH research and research training programs and the standard application and review procedures for those awards. o GrantsInfo provides assistance with finding needed information from the NIH system of web sites and refers inquiries to appropriate NIH offices, if necessary. o GrantsInfo staff are available by telephone, 301-710-0267, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, except on Federal holidays. o GrantsInfo processes voicemail and email orders for applications, other forms, and publications. For convenience and economy, the NIH strongly encourages the offices of sponsored programs (or equivalent, by any name) of the applicant/awardee organizations and the NIH program and grants management offices to order forms in quantities sufficient to meet the needs of their organizations for 6 months or more. Most researchers can obtain application materials locally, from the office of sponsored programs of their employer, or from the NIH Grants Page (https://grants.nih.gov/grants/oer.htm) of the NIH system of web sites (http://www.nih.gov) more quickly than by placing an order with GrantsInfo. However, if neither the local nor the electronic resource is available to an individual, GrantsInfo will process a small order to meet that need.
