TERMINATION OF NIMH PROGRAM ANNOUNCEMENT PA-90-18 NIH GUIDE, Volume 24, Number 33, September 22, 1995 P.T. 34 Keywords: Brain Grants Administration/Policy+ National Institute of Mental Health The Program Announcement (PA), "NIMH Functional Brain Imaging Centers for the Study of Mental Disorders," (PA-90-18), which solicited applications for funding of brain imaging centers to study mental illness, is being withdrawn. The objective of the PA was to ensure that mental health investigators had access to neuroimaging facilities and had opportunities to become familiar with these methodologies. Since the publication of the PA, the number of facilities and researchers using neuroimaging to study mental disorders has increased significantly. Therefore, the special emphasis of this PA is terminated. However, ongoing and new research that uses neuroimaging technologies to study mental disorders will still be funded by the NIMH as part of the general program portfolios. INQUIRIES John K.
