The purpose of this announcement is to inform interested parties of

the availability of a Book of Abstracts of research projects funded

under the Academic Research Enhancement Award (AREA) program of the

National Institutes of Health.  The Book was prepared to coincide

with a conference and workshop held on April 9-10, 1995, in

Indianapolis, Indiana, to highlight and recognize the achievements of

the AREA program.  All principal investigators of AREA grants awarded

since the inception of the program in 1985 were invited to contribute

an abstract of the results of their research effort.  The Book was

compiled from responses submitted by those principal investigators

and is presented as a sample of research results that may serve as a

catalyst for the continued success of the AREA program.
