  Grants Administration/Policy+

National Center for Human Genome Research

Effective March 1, 1995, the National Center for Human Genome

Research (NCHGR) will increase the salary cap on the Special Emphasis

Research Career Awards (SERCAs) (K01) from $50,000 to $75,000. This

increase will apply to all future applications, applications

currently under review, and active grants. To request a higher

salary on a pending application or grant already funded, the

institution must provide justification, as outlined in form PHS 398,

to support the total salary and fringe benefits to be provided to the

principal investigator . The request must be signed by the

individual authorized to act for the applicant or grantee

organization and assume the obligations imposed by the requirements

and conditions for any grant, including the applicable Federal

Principal investigators who are eligible for the higher salary level

will receive the increase at the time the Type 1 or Type 5 grant

applications are paid.
