Applicants planning to submit investigator-initiated research grant

applications requesting $500,000 or more in direct costs in any year

are advised that it is important that they contact appropriate

Institute/Center staff as they begin to develop plans for the study.

Applications received without prior staff contact may be delayed in

the review process or returned to the applicant without review.

Applicants who are uncertain regarding which Institute/Center to

contact should call the Referral Office, Division of Research Grants

(301-594-7250).
