Fogarty International Center

This is an addendum to program announcement (PA) PAR 99-008 for the Fogarty
International Research Collaboration Award (FIRCA), last issed October 30, 1998.
Please note that the application deadline is a receipt date and not a postmark
date. All FIRCA applications must now be received at NIH by the deadline listed
on the program announcement.

In addition, the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) is
interested in co-funding FIRCAs which are relevant to its mission and which are
within the payline as determined by the FIC. Through the use of the FIRCA grant
mechanism, the FIC and the NIEHS wish to develop collaborative programs between
established environmental health researchers and investigators in developing
countries with access to unique research opportunities. This includes both
laboratory and population-based studies on the effects of exposures to
pollutants in air, water, food and through occupation, as well as studies of
susceptibility factors due to genetics, age or nutritional status.

The PA for the FIRCA, PAR-99-008, can be obtained from
http://www.nih.gov/fic/programs/firca.html.
