Purpose

This is a Request for Information (RFI) inviting comments on the strategic plan framework, which will inform the NIH’s National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS) 2024-2029 strategic plan.

Background

The mission of the National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS) is to turn biomedical research discoveries into health solutions including diagnostics, treatments, and interventions through the application of translational science. As a part of NCATS 10th anniversary celebration in 2021, NCATS Director Dr. Joni Rutter shared her vision for the Center, to bring more treatments for all people more quickly (see January 19, 2022: The Decade Ahead: More Treatments for All People More Quickly | National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (nih.gov). The development of a strategic plan is an important opportunity to help guide the center over the next several years towards that vision.

Information Requested

NCATS has begun the process of developing a strategic plan for 2024-2029. As a first step, NCATS engaged internal and external stakeholders through a variety of different meetings including two public roundtables, NCATS Strategic Plan | National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (nih.gov). Based on that input, and in consideration of our vision and mission, NCATS has developed a draft framework for the next plan. NCATS requests your feedback. Comments will be used to help shape this framework and the ensuing strategic plan.

NCATS has drafted a full framework of goals, context, and themes that are matched to its vision. NCATS is asking for your perspective, using the available webform at https://rfi.grants.nih.gov/?s=64d107c432181da41a0a2612 , on any or all of the following :
