Purpose

The purpose of this Notice is make modifications to PAR-16-343 "Limited Competition: Exploratory CTSA Collaborative Innovation Awards (R21)" to clarify the types of projects that would not be supported under this program, and to encourage investigators to contact NCATS Scientific/Research staff about the responsiveness of their project prior to preparing an application.

Research Objectives

Examples of projects that would not be supported under this program include, but are not limited to:

  • Direct dissemination of an approach, tool, or methodology that has already been developed at one CTSA hub to one or more CTSA hubs
  • Adding a new collaborator from a different CTSA hub to work on an ongoing project
  • Incremental improvement or enhancement of an established approach

Research Objectives

Examples of projects that would not be supported under this program include, but are not limited to:

  • Direct dissemination of an approach, tool, or methodology that has already been developed at one CTSA hub to one or more CTSA hubs
  • Adding a new collaborator from a different CTSA hub to work on an ongoing project
  • Incremental improvement or enhancement of an established approach
  • Translational research projects focused on specific diseases that are not generalizable to other diseases.

Investigators are strongly encouraged to contact the NCATS Scientific/Research contact to discuss the responsiveness of their innovation to this Funding Opportunity prior to preparing an application.
