Notice Number: NOT-RR-07-006
Key Dates
Release Date: March 13, 2007
Issued by
National Center for Research Resources (NCRR) (http://www.ncrr.nih.gov )
Effective June 12, 2007, the National Center for Research Resources (NCRR) will no longer accept new or resubmission applications for the Mentored Patient-Oriented Research Career Development Award (K23, PA-05-143) and the Midcareer Investigator Award in Patient-Oriented Research (K24, PA-04-107) grant mechanisms. K23 and K24 applications received for the February 12, 2007 submission date, resubmission applications received for the March 12, 2007 submission date, and AIDS-related applications received for the May 7, 2007 submission date will continue through the review and award cycle, but these will be the last to be accepted.
NCRR is providing substantial resources to promote clinical research activities via the Clinical and Translational Science Award (CTSA) program, which contains a mandatory KL2 component to provide mentored career development to investigators in clinical research. The number of KL2 Scholars will increase each year as additional CTSA awards are made and as new Scholars participate in existing KL2 programs. Consequently, the KL2 program will become the primary training vehicle for both junior investigators and mentors and will replace NCRR’s prior support of these investigators via the K23 and K24 grant mechanisms.
