National Center for Research Resources

The National Center for Research Resources is announcing a limited competition
for competitive supplements to Biomedical Research Infrastructure Networks
(BRIN) funded in fiscal year 2001. The purpose is to further enhance the
research capacity of institutions through collaborative partnerships to allow
them to more fully compete for research support from the National Institutes of
Health (NIH). Successful applicants will receive supplemental awards in fiscal
year 2002 to provide support to expand the statewide BRIN network, becoming more
inclusive of undergraduate institutions, particularly minority serving
institutions. Support may be requested for alteration and renovation of
research laboratories and animal facilities, instrumentation (particularly core
laboratories), administrative and bioinformatics cores central to the function
of the BRINs, and scientific research cores supporting new research venues in
these states. Eligible applicants are currently funded BRIN principal
investigators. The deadline for receipt of applications is April 19, 2002.

NCRR staff will contact all eligible applicants directly regarding application
procedures and format. Direct inquiries regarding programmatic issues to:
