NOTICE OF LIMITED COMPETITION - SUPPLEMENTAL AWARDS FOR BIOMEDICAL RESEARCH INFRASTRUCTURE NETWORKS Release Date: January 15, 2002 NOTICE: NOT-RR-02-004 National Center for Research Resources The National Center for Research Resources is announcing a limited competition for competitive supplements to Biomedical Research Infrastructure Networks (BRIN) funded in fiscal year 2001. The purpose is to further enhance the research capacity of institutions through collaborative partnerships to allow them to more fully compete for research support from the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Successful applicants will receive supplemental awards in fiscal year 2002 to provide support to expand the statewide BRIN network, becoming more inclusive of undergraduate institutions, particularly minority serving institutions. Support may be requested for alteration and renovation of research laboratories and animal facilities, instrumentation (particularly core laboratories), administrative and bioinformatics cores central to the function of the BRINs, and scientific research cores supporting new research venues in these states. Eligible applicants are currently funded BRIN principal investigators. The deadline for receipt of applications is April 19, 2002.
