Purpose

The purpose of this Notice is to modify the language of RFA-RM-10-001 with regard to PHS398 Research Plan Component Sections.

In RFA-RM-10-001, PHS398 Research Plan Component Sections currently states:

All application instructions outlined in the SF424 (R&R) Application Guide are to be followed, with the following additional requirements:

  • Introduction (required for a resubmission or revision application) is limited to 1 page for each component of the application.
  • Specific Aims is limited to 1 page for each component of the application.
  • The U54 application Research Plan component of the PHS398 (Item 3, Research Strategy) may not exceed 305 pages, including tables, graphs, figures, diagrams, and charts.


This text is now replaced with the following:

PHS398 Research Plan Sections

All application instructions outlined in the PHS398 Application Instructions are to be followed, with the following additional requirements:

  • Introduction is limited to 3 pages for Resubmissions (formerly “Revised”) Applications. List each area of concern noted in the Summary Statement from the previous application and summarize clearly the changes that hve been made in the resubmission application. Do not include an extensive description of each change in the introduction. In the body of the application, highlight paragraphs with significant changes by changing the typography. If the changes are so extensive as to include most of the text, this exception should be explained in the Introduction to the Resubmission Application. Do not underline or shade changes.
  • Specific Aims is limited to 1 page for each component of the application.
  • The U54 Research Strategy may not exceed 305 pages including tables, graphs, figures, diagrams, and charts

All other aspects of the FOA remain unchanged.
