Notice Regarding PAR-06-485 Occupational Safety and Health Education and Research Centers

The purpose of this notice is to provide clarification on five items in PAR-06-485:
- Key Dates – The next application receipt dates are August 14, 2008 for a start date of July 1, 2009 and August 14, 2009 for a start date of July 1, 2010. In addition, the Peer Review Date(s) are revised to February/March, 2009 and February/March 2010, respectively; and the Council Review Date(s) are revised to May/June 2009 and May/June 2010, respectively.
- Section I. Funding Opportunity Description - 1. Program Objectives, Training Programs. In the 1st paragraph, the following new 2nd sentence is inserted: “This program will not support academic certificate programs”. The following new 3rd sentence is inserted: “Grantees are expected to track all program graduates, including placement as well as progress in their careers.”
- Section I. Funding Opportunity Description - 1. Program Objectives, Center-Wide Activities, Pilot/Small Projects Research Training Program (OPTIONAL). In the 1st paragraph, the 3rd sentence is revised to read as follows: “These pilot/small projects should provide support for new, short-term projects and applicants for such projects must be limited to junior faculty, new investigators, or research trainees. Funded projects are not eligible for renewal.”
- Section IV. Application and Submission Information - 6. Other Submission Requirements, Trainee Related Expenses. The 6th sentence is revised to read: “However, training related expenses cannot exceed 40% of the total program budget.”
- Section VI. Award Administration Information - 3. Reporting. The 2nd paragraph is replaced with the following: “Additionally, a Summary Annual Center Report is due October 1 following each budget period. The report should focus on major accomplishments/highlights in program areas including the impact of ERC programs within the applicable DHHS Region. The report should not exceed 3 pages in a format suitable for posting on the NIOSH web site and for use in informing the Congress, public, and others of significant ERC activities.”
