NIH SEED supports the participation of Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer Research (STTR) recipients at life science investor and partnering events throughout the year. This program is part of a comprehensive approach NIH has established to enable the commercialization of healthcare technologies and services developed with NIH support. The SEED company showcase program matches requesting eligible companies with presentation and attendance slots at select events. These events provide venues for small business leaders to engage with investors, development partners, and corporate collaborators. This program supports over 120 companies each year, not all companies who request participation will be matched to an event.
Matched companies may receive the following benefits:
Eligibility: Companies must have had active NIH SBIR or STTR funding (grant or contract) within the 24 calendar months preceding the relevant request deadline. For companies with multiple awards, only one project will be considered per 6-month cycle.
Companies may submit a request for consideration at any time during the year, however SEED will evaluate the match of companies to specific events only twice per year. The evaluation process allows for matching of companies to events occurring within the next 12 months, so companies need only request participation once per calendar year. The cut-off dates for evaluation of requests are 5 pm EST January 17, 2025 and 5 pm EDT June 6, 2025. Within 3 months of each evaluation, SEED will notify companies if they have been matched to a showcase event occurring within the next six months (roughly March through September and October through February respectively).
