Purpose

This Guide Notice informs the extramural research community that the eRA Commons Demo, a sample environment to try out most of the capabilities of eRA Commons, will be retired as of October 14, 2024.

Background

The Commons Demo provides users the opportunity to register and try out most of the capabilities of eRA Commons in a practice environment with test data. Effective October 14, 2024, the Commons Demo (accessed from the eRA Commons home screen) will be retired to reduce redundancies and related costs across eRA systems. As a first step towards decommissioning, the URL to register for the Commons Demo environment has been made inaccessible.

Alternatives

The external extramural research community will have the option to use the non-production environment — the User Acceptance Testing (UAT) environment — for practice. See steps to use UAT.

In addition, users can make use of informational webpages, online help (user documentation) and video tutorials on the eRA website.
