NOT-OD-24-178 - Final Scientific Integrity Policy of the National Institutes of Health

Issued by

Office of The Director, National Institutes of Health (OD)

Purpose

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) seeks public input on the draft Scientific Integrity Policy of the National Institutes of Health. The draft policy codifies NIH’s long-standing expectations to preserve scientific integrity throughout all NIH activities, establishes key roles and responsibilities for those who will lead the agency’s scientific integrity program, and, as appropriate, establishes relevant reporting and evaluation mechanisms.

The draft policy incorporates and is responsive to the principles and directives of the Presidential Memorandum on Restoring Trust in Government Through Scientific Integrity and Evidence-Based Policymaking, Protecting the Integrity of Government Science, and A Framework for Federal Scientific Integrity Policy and Practice.

Complete details on the draft policy may be found in the Federal Register https://federalregister.gov/d/2023-20733.

NIH will accept comments on the draft policy until November 9, 2023. Comments must be submitted electronically at: https://osp.od.nih.gov/comment-form-draft-scientific-integrity-policy-for-the-national-institutes-of-health/.

Comments are voluntary and may be submitted anonymously. You may also voluntarily include your name and contact information with the response. Other than name and contact information, please do not include in the response any personally identifiable information or any information that you do not wish to make public. Proprietary, classified, confidential, or sensitive information should not be included in your response. After the Office of Science Policy (OSP) has finished reviewing the responses, the responses may be posted to the OSP website without redaction.
