Purpose

Congress has allocated $4 million to enable the NIH to award administrative supplements for the Building Interdisciplinary Research Careers in Women’s Health (BIRCWH) program. The monies are to be used to support one additional K12 scholar at each site. NIH encourages institutions to select potential scholars from diverse backgrounds, including those from groups underrepresented in biomedical research.

This is a limited competition and only current BIRCWH Program awardee institutions are eligible to apply. The BIRCWH Program is an institutional K award (K12) where the mentored scholars, who are appointed by the PIs of the grant, are early careers scientists who have no existing R01 awards. Applicants should refer to PA-20-272 for overall application guidance.

Please note, NIH encourages applications from groups that are underrepresented in the biomedical, clinical, behavioral and social sciences (NOT-OD-20-031).
