The event will be held virtually on April 26-30 and registration is free.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is one of the largest sources of early-stage capital for life sciences in the United States, supporting small businesses that are developing innovative products and services with the potential to improve health and save lives. Attend this conference to learn how to access more than $1.2 billion of seed funding through the small business programs - Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR).

Who should attend?
The 2021 HHS Small Business Program Conference is ideal for those who are new to the small business programs, diverse life science entrepreneurs or biomedical researchers, or affiliated with minority-owned or woman-owned small businesses.

What to expect:

Attend live, 45-minute sessions on topics including:

  • Diversity and Bias: Perceptions and Reality
  • Persistence is Key: Resources for Resubmission
  • Entrepreneurs in Action: Stories of Success
  • Beyond Research: Building a Business
  • Secrets to a Successful Submission
  • What to expect during the peer review process

Session recordings will be available after the event and participants will have access to an on-demand library of related videos. One-on-one meetings with HHS and NIH small business program staff and other experts will also be available throughout the conference.

We hold ourselves to the same standards that we have published in NIH Guide Notice (NOT-OD-21-053) for increasing the participation of individuals from diverse backgrounds in all aspects of the conference. We hope you will join us for this important and informative event.
