Office of The Director, National Institutes of Health (OD)
This notice is to alert the extramural community of upcoming changes to the format of the National Institutes of Health's (NIH) Notice of Award (NoA). As outlined in the NIH Grants Policy Statement (GPS), Section 5, the NoA is the legal document issued to notify the recipient that an award has been made and that funds may be requested from the designated HHS payment system or office.
The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has developed a standardized Page One of the NoA and, effective October 1, 2020, this will serve as the first page of every HHS NoA for all discretionary awards.
The new Page One captures key award information for grant recipients in an intuitive and digitally accessible format and provides consistency across HHS to require fewer unique formats for HHS to manage.
The new Page One will include the following data elements:
Recipient Information
Federal Agency Information
Federal Award Information
Award data (Section I), payment information (Section II), and applicable terms and conditions of award (Sections III/IV) will continue to be provided in the NoA following Page One.
These updates will be incorporated into Section 5 of the next publication of the NIH GPS, later this fall.
Resources
Additional implementation details, samples, and other resources will be posted on the View Notice of Award webpage on the eRA public website as they become available in the coming weeks.
