Purpose

The purpose of this Notice is to announce that a report on Office of Laboratory Animal Welfare (OLAW) site visits to the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Centers (VAMC) is now available and can be downloaded at: VAMC Site Visits Report (PDF).

The report summarizes the results of site visits to four VAMCs. At each site visit, OLAW assessed institutional compliance with the standards of the Public Health Service Policy on Humane Care and Use of Laboratory Animals (PHS Policy) and the Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals (Guide). While the site visits focused on dogs used in the VAMCs’ research, an overall animal care and use program review was conducted.
