Purpose

The purpose of this Notice is to inform the scientific community of a change in the budget requirements for RFA-OD-13-009 "Short Courses on Innovative Methodologies in the Behavioral and Social Sciences (R25). There will be no limit on personnel costs.

The following section of RFA-OD-13-009 is modified accordingly.

Section II. Award Information, Other Award Budget Information

Personnel Costs
Current language:
Individuals designing, directing, and implementing the research education program may request salary and fringe benefits appropriate for the person months devoted to the program. Salaries requested may not exceed the levels commensurate with the institution's policy for similar positions and may not exceed the congressionally mandated cap. (If mentoring interactions and other activities with students/participants are considered a regular part of an individual's academic duties, then any costs associated with the mentoring and other interactions with students/participants are not allowable costs from grant funds).

Personnel costs may not exceed 25% of the total direct costs in any year. Consultant costs may not be used to substitute for Personnel costs.

Modified language:

Limited program-related administrative and clerical salary costs associated distinctly with the program that are not normally provided by the applicant organization may be direct charges to the grant only when they are in accordance with applicable cost principles.

All other language and requirements in RFA-OD-13-009 remain the same.
