Amendment of the Eligibility Criteria for NIH Loan Repayment Programs

Purpose

This notice amends the eligibility criteria to add Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) to the list of eligible degrees for the following NIH Loan Repayment Programs:

NOT-OD-11-085: Extramural Loan Repayment Program for Clinical Research (LRP-CR)
NOT-OD-11-086: Extramural Pediatric Research Loan Repayment Program (LRP-PR)
NOT-OD-11-087: Extramural Loan Repayment Program for Health Disparities Research (LRP-HDR)
NOT-OD-11-088: Extramural Loan Repayment Program for Contraception and Infertility Researchers (LRP-CIR)
NOT-OD-11-089: Extramural Clinical Research Loan Repayment Program for Individuals from Disadvantaged Backgrounds (LRP-IDB)

Eligible Applicants

Eligibility criteria with regard to participation in the extramural LRPs include the following:

NOT-OD-11-085: Applicants for LRP-CR must have an M.D., Ph.D., Pharm. D., Psy.D., D.O., D.D.S., D.M.D., D.P.M., D.C., N.D., O.D. or equivalent doctoral degree from an accredited institution.

NOT-OD-11-086: Applicants for LRP-PR must have an M.D., Ph.D., Pharm. D., Psy.D., D.O., D.D.S., D.M.D., D.P.M., D.C., N.D., D.V.M., O.D. or equivalent doctoral degree from an accredited institution.

NOT-OD-11-087: Applicants for LRP-HDR must have a M.D., Ph.D., Pharm.D., Psy.D., D.O., D.D.S., D.M.D., D.P.M., D.C., N.D., D.V.M., O.D. or equivalent doctoral degree from an accredited institution.

NOT-OD-11-088: Applicants for LRP-CIR must be qualified health and/or allied health professionals including, but not limited to, physicians, Ph.D.-level scientists, nurses and physician assistants, as well as graduate students and postgraduate research fellows training in the health professions, who must be (a) engaged in employment/training at an NICHD extramural laboratory, or (b) engaged in qualifying research activities in a qualified institution.

NOT-OD-11-089: Applicants for LRP-IDB must have a M.D., Ph.D., Pharm.D., Psy.D., D.O., D.D.S., D.M.D., D.P.M., D.C., N.D., O.D. or equivalent doctoral degree from an accredited institution.
