Notice Number: NOT-OD-11-009

Key Dates

Release Date: September 30, 2010

Issued by

National Institutes of Health (NIH)

Purpose

NIH recently issued a joint agency Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) funding opportunity announcement entitled Robotics Technology Development and Deployment (PAR-10-279) with the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), the National Science Foundation (NSF), the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Given that the community expected to respond to this joint announcement may be broader than those typically applying to NIH, this Notice is to remind interested applicants that:

1. Only electronic applications are accepted and must be submitted through the federal-wide grants portal known as grants.gov.

2. Registrations with grants.gov and the eRA Commons (the NIH system that interacts with grants.gov) are required.

It may take four or more weeks to complete the registration processes so interested applicants are encouraged to plan accordingly. APPLICATIONS WITHOUT COMPLETED REGISTRATIONS CAN NOT BE PROCESSED.

For information concerning the registration process, see Section III of the funding opportunity announcement and Section 2.2 of the SF424 (R&R) SBIR/STTR Application Guide for NIH and Other PHS Agencies.

3. Electronic application submission is a multi-step process. Submission to Grants.gov is not the final step. Applicants must check submission status and be able to view their entire assembled application in eRA Commons to ensure successful completion of the submission process.
